A Metamaterial-Based Cross-Polarization Converter Characterized by Wideband and High Efficiency

Metamaterial-based polarization converters, which have all kinds of polarizations realizable via adjusting metamaterial parameters, been springing up at an increasing rate. However, the reported metamaterial-based converters suffer from either limited bandwidth or low conversion ratios. In this study, a converter consisting multilayer copper split-ring resonators and ground separated by dielectrics was demonstrated characterized cross-polarization with wideband high-efficiency. For normal incidence, simulated results illustrated that expanded benefited superposition electromagnetic resonances around 2.78, 3.09, 3.68, 4.54 GHz, ratio higher than 99% in frequency range 2.73 4.63 GHz. oblique design can provide larger angle tolerance investigated band, except for very narrow stopband. Moreover, experimental agreed well simulations, verified reliability performance.
